Spend even a little time on tumblr drifting through lifestyle blogs and they all start to feel the same: washed out colors, sun-flares, the backs of heads of people standing in fields. Some authors, if that’s the right word, take a little bit more care. They cultivate a specific style. They don’t reblog every last image that looks even remotely interesting. Their little spaces on the internet end up feeling more like curated exhibits than dumping grounds. And Convoy is a prime example of this rare breed of tumblr.
There is a cool formality to Convoy’s collection of vintage motorized vehicles, whitewashed interiors, and canvas and plaid wardrobes. The living spaces Convoy depicts are airy and bright, almost deathless in their immaculateness, like what Heaven would look like if no one showed up. The impossibly sleek motorcycles and racing cars seen here are all low-slung curves and bold, geometric paint jobs, so beautiful you think that maybe, if everyone in the world owned one of these, there would be no more war.
As pared-down and austere as these images can be, it is still human and welcoming. The fabrics on the clothes are soft and worn, and the beards are just unkempt enough to suggest that a walk in the woods is not out of the question—this is not a style that shuts out the world; it emphasizes a simplicity, suggesting a life composed only of things that are beautiful or that work, and preferably both.
